May 3, 2025Mitral Valve Prolapse (MVP) occurs when the mitral valve doesn't close properly, causing one or both of its flaps to bulge (prolapse) backward into the left atrium during the heartbeat. 🫀 The mitral valve controls blood flow between the left atrium and left ventricle. When it doesn’t seal tightly, blood may leak backward (called mitral regurgitation). 🔍 Symptoms (if any) may include: -Palpitations -Chest discomfort -Fatigue -Dizziness -Shortness of breath (in severe cases) 🧘♀️ Often harmless and symptomless, MVP is usually discovered during a routine check-up. However, severe cases may require medication or valve repair. ✅ Regular monitoring helps keep your heart healthy and functioning smoothly.
