CABG (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting) is a surgical procedure used to improve blood flow to the heart in people with severe coronary artery disease (CAD). 🩸 When the arteries supplying blood to the heart become narrowed or blocked, CABG creates a new path (bypass) using a healthy blood vessel from the leg, arm, or chest. 💡 Why is CABG done? To relieve angina (chest pain) To improve heart function To prevent heart attacks When stents or medications are not enough 🔧 How it works: Surgeons take a healthy artery or vein Connect it above and below the blocked artery This new route restores normal blood flow to the heart muscle 🔁 It doesn’t cure heart disease, but it significantly improves quality of life and survival. 🩺 Often recommended when: Multiple arteries are blocked There’s left main coronary artery disease Heart function is already weakened
